Principles & Priorities

Principles

My purpose for running to be your next City Councilman is rooted in three foundational principles I learned as a young man growing up in District 1. From Booker T. Washington Elementary, Central Middle School, Ball High School and East Texas State University, these principles were my guiding light and served me well as I navigated through my adulthood and into my professional career. They are and will remain my North Star as I serve you as your next City Councilman:

Trust the mission and each other

Transparency in all that we do

Teamwork is essential to getting the work done Together

Key Priorities

As your next City Councilman for District 1

  • I will advocate for purposeful social and physical infrastructural changes

    • Review the functionality of the drainage system in District 1 and ensure adequate funding is budgeted to support any improvements.
    • Ensure the social well being of residents in District 1 is met via Community Centers, shelters and neighborhood clinics.
  • I will seek out needed residential and economic growth possibilities

    • Convene partners, housing developers to complete a Housing Analysis to help identify existing barriers to development of affordable housing and determine a feasible path forward.
    • Socialize the idea of creating an Economic Development Zone to assist in encouraging small business owners and underserved entrepreneurs to invest in District 1.
  • I will listen to your needs and collaborate with key stakeholders on your behalf

    • Partnering with the city officials and local organizations to ensure resources are provided to those most in need. Sharing with the residents of District 1 as needed.
    • Enhance any public outreach strategies and ensure that critical communication reaches all segments of the city, particularly District 1.
  • I will ensure your safety and welfare as citizens of this great city is my focus

    • Ensure resources and funding is budgeted for streets and sidewalk improvements for our mobility challenged residents in District 1.
    • Review adequacy of homeless and behavioral health resources and possibly expand warming centers in District 1 and throughout the city.
  • I will prioritize your needs while honoring the impact of the tourists that visit our city

    • Assist in creating a sustainable Mobility study to ease the congestion of tourist routes throughout the city neighborhoods.
    • Explore opportunities for local residents to socially benefit from tourist targeted offerings.
    • Continue to share the benefits of HOT taxes and how it helps to reduce property taxes.
